Class 6A
WICHITA EAST (8-2) at WASHBURN RURAL (10-0)
Washburn Rural, the No. 1 West seed, is coming off a 27-20 home playoff win over Junction City last Friday while Wichita East advanced with a 48-28 win over Wichita Northwest. Rural has won 10 straight games for the first time since a perfect 12-0 season in 1989 and has won 10 games in a season for the first time since 1992. Rural senior quarterback Branton DeWeese threw for three touchdowns against Junction City, including a 69-yard game-winning strike to senior Calvin Hayes with 6:15 left in the game. Senior JC Heim scored a pair of TDs and starred defensively for the Junior Blues in last week's win while junior King Leonard had a pair of pass interceptions. Washburn Rural will be playing a Wichita East team that it faced in the opening game of the 2023 season, with the Junior Blues taking a 26-25 win in that game at Bowen-Glaze Stadium. The winner of Friday's game will advance to the 6A sub-state round to face the winner of Friday's game between Manhattan (9-1) and Derby (9-1) at Manhattan. With a win Friday Rural will be at home for the sub-state contest.
Class 5A
SEAMAN (6-4) at MILL VALLEY (8-2)
Seaman, the No. 9 seed in the 5A East, posted its second straight Class 5A road playoff win over a higher seed last Friday, knocking off No. 1 East seed De Soto 31-28 on junior Ethan Geiger's 25-yard field goal with 7:08 remaining. Four-time defending state champion Mill Valley advanced with a 56-7 win over Spring Hill. Seaman junior quarterback Max Huston ran for two touchdowns and threw for two TDs in the win over De Soto. Huston has completed 188 of 309 passes for 2,774 yards and 34 touchdowns while senior Callen Barta has caught 63 passes for 1,254 yards and 16 TDs and junior Bryer Finley has 43 receptions for 529 yards and nine TDs and senior Holden Finley has 41 catches for 548 yards and six TDs. Huston is also Seaman's leading rusher with 581 yards and seven TDs on 115 attempts. Mill Valley senior Tristan Baker has carried the ball 161 times for 1,132 yards and 16 touchdowns while
senior Daniel Blaine has completed 28 of 51 passes for 590 yards and six TDs. The Seaman-Mill Valley winner will advance to the 5A sub-state round to meet the winner of Friday's game between Shawnee Heights (8-2) and Blue Valley Southwest (9-1).
SHAWNEE HEIGHTS (8-2) vs. BLUE VALLEY SOUTHWEST (9-1)

Shawnee Heights advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 56-20 second-round romp over city rival Highland Park while Blue Valley Southwest rolled to a 56-6 win over Lansing. Shawnee Heights forced a running clock through the entire second half after opening up a 49-0 halftime advantage. Shawnee Heights has won eight games for the first time since 1994. T-Bird senior Allen Baughman ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns in the first half. Baughman has rushed for 879 yards and 15 touchdowns on 154 attempts while senior quarterback Ryeki Tuley has completed 154 of 229 passes for 2,005 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushed for 374 yards and seven TDs on 82 attempts. Heights senior Jayden Moore has 52 pass receptions for 679 yards and five touchdowns while senior Jacob Malcom has 42 catches for 583 yards and seven TDs and Jayden Holly has 39 catches for 407 yards and five scores. Blue Valley Southwest senior Dylan Dunn has completed 214 of 290 pass attempts for 2,997 yards and 40 touchdowns while senior Alex Parks has 66 catches for 1,104 yards and 15 TDs and senior Tate Everard has 59 catches for 1,043 yards and 12 TDs. Friday's Shawnee Heights-Blue Valley Southwest winner will move on to the Class 5A sub-state round to face the winner of Friday's game between Seaman (6-4) and Mill Valley (8-2).
Class 3A
HAYDEN (10-0) at PARSONS (9-1)
Hayden, the Class 3A District 4 champion, advanced with a second-round 42-24 home playoff win overSanta Fe Trail while Parsons advanced with a 50-22 win over Prairie View. Wildcat sophomore Kade Mitchell has carried the ball 59 times for 641 yards and has scored 12 total touchdowns while senior Dom Ridley has 465 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 53 attempts and junior Broderick Desch has 360 rushing yards and eight TDs on 69 attempts. Hayden junior Jensen Schrickel has caught 27 passes for 568 yards and rushed for 271 yards on 16 attempts and has scored eight total TDs. Sophomore quarterback Connor Hanika got his first career start against Santa Fe Trail in place of the injured Jett Wahlmeier and has completed 10 of 21 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns. Parsons senior Tra Mack has completed 106 of 172 passes for 1,509 yards and 15 touchdowns while senior Jahmarion Washington has rushed for 1,423 yards and 22 TDs on 209 attempts. The Hayden-Parsons winner will advance to the sub-state round in the 3A playoffs to face the winner of Friday's game between Frontenac (9-1) and Holton (6-4) at Holton.
Eight-Man Division I
CAIR PARAVEL LATIN (8-2) at CHASE COUNTY (7-3)
Cair Paravel Latin is coming off a 76-30 second-round playoff win at Central-Burden in a game that was ended at the 4:13 mark of the fourth quarter due to the 45-point spread rule while Chase County beat Moundridge, 36-26. Cair Paravel beat Chase County 52-16 in Week 7 in a district contest. Cair Paravel junior quarterback Jase Pavlik ran for 305 yards and three touchdowns on 11 attempts and passed for 312 yards and four TDs on a 12 of 18 performance. Senior Jesiah Bonura caught five passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 58 yards and a TD on five attempts. The Cair Paravel-Chase County winner will advance to play the winner of the game between West Elk (9-1) and Lyndon (10-0) at Lyndon.
