KC-SOUTHEAST, Mo. (3-3) at HIGHLAND PARK (1-0)
Highland Park opened its season with an 82-62 non-league romp past Bonner Springs last Tuesday. Bo Aldridge led the Scots, No. 3-ranked in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, with 19 points while seniors Jahmir Kingcannon and Tre Richardson added 18 and 15 points, respectively. Kansas City-Southeast is 3-3 on the season after taking a 74-62 win over KC-East on Friday in the Winnetonka Classic.
BASEHOR-LINWOOD (2-2, 1-0) at SHAWNEE HEIGHTS (1-2, 1-2)
Shawnee Heights is coming off a 64-51 United Kansas Conference loss to Topeka West on Friday at West while Basehor-Linwood finished fourth in the Liberty North (Mo.) Invitational, dropping a 54-27 loss to Liberty North in the third-place game. The T-Birds got 15 points and 12 rebounds off the bench from junior Jayden Holly against Topeka West while junior Jacob Malcom added 10 off the bench. The Bobcats opened the season with a 58-52 UKC win over Topeka West.
SHAWNEE MISSION NORTHWEST (1-1) at WASHBURN RURAL (2-1)
Washburn Rural won its last two games in the Championship Showdown at Shawnee Mission East, including a 64-41 win over Shawnee Mission East in Friday's consolation final (fifth-place game). Seniors Jack Bachelor and Wyatt Conklin scored 13 points apiece against West. Bachelor is averaging 18 points, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals for Rural while Conklin is averaging 12.3 points and junior JC Heim a team-high seven rebounds. Northwest is coming off a 62-58 loss against Olathe North.
TOPEKA WEST (2-1, 2-1) at LANSING (1-1, 1-1)
Topeka West, ranked No. 7 in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, beat Shawnee Heights 64-51 in a United Kansas Conference contest Friday night at West while Lansing took a 57-53 UKC win over Turner. Senior Malachi Berg led the Chargers against Heights with 18 points and 11 rebounds while seniors Xavier Alexander and Sincere Austin had 18 and 14 points, respectively. Alexander hit three 3-pointers for West.
TOPEKA HIGH (1-2, 0-0) at MANHATTAN (4-1, 1-0)
Topeka High picked up its first victory of the season last Tuesday, a 61-48 non-league home win over St. Mary's Academy. Junior Isaiah Lyons led Topeka High with 17 points while sophomore Jayden Norman had 15 points, including a perfect 7 of 7 from the floor, and sophomore Da'Mykel Hales had 12 points. Manhattan is coming off a 59-32 non-league victory over Dodge City. Tuesday's game will be the Centennial League opener for both teams.
SEAMAN (1-1, 1-1) at PIPER (1-1, 1-1)
Both teams will be looking to bounce back from United Kansas Conference losses, with Seaman dropping a 74-62 home decision to Topeka West last Tuesday and Piper falling at Shawnee Heights, 61-46. Seaman's loss to Topeka West snapped the Vikings' 12-game winning streak. Senior Kaeden Bonner led Seaman with 18 points against West while juniors Jalen Freeman and Braden Chapman added 10 points each for the Vikings.
