BRODY ANDERSON, Seaman
Anderson, a senior cross country standout, won his second straight boys city individual title Saturday at the Shawnee North Community Center while posting his fourth individual victory of the 2025 season. A Class 5A state medalist in cross country and track, Anderson set a course record with a five-kilometer time of 15 minutes, 00.11 seconds.
MADELINE DETERS, Topeka High
A senior tennis standout, Deters won her first Centennial League singles championship last Tuesday in Junction City and followed that up with the singles title in Friday's Class 6A regional tournament at Wichita. Deters posted a 6-2, 6-1 final-round win over Emporia's Kali Keough in the Centennial League tournament and took a 6-2, 6-4 win over Junction City's Hannah Micheel in the regional final.
EMILY GRAF, Washburn Rural
Washburn Rural senior cross country standout Graf won her first city girls individual championship Saturday at the Shawnee North Community Center, leading the Junior Blues to their seventh straight city team title. Coming off a hip injury, Graf clocked winning time of 19 minutes, 18.57 seconds in the city meet.
KADE MITCHELL, Hayden
Mitchell, a senior running back/defensive back, had a 100-yard rushing performance while also scoring three touchdowns in last Friday's 53-22 Class 3A home district victory over Holton. Mitchell carried the ball 16 times for 128 yards and scored touchdowns on 1 and 8-yard rushing runs and a 9-yard TD pass from Connor Hanika as the Wildcats improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season.
MADILYN POOLE, Cair Paravel Latin
Poole, a junior tennis standout for the Lions, captured the singles championship in Friday's Class 3A-1A regional tournament at Kossover Tennis Center. Poole capped her run to the regional title with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Silver Lake junior Evelynn Thompson in the finals, earning a return trip to the 3A-1A state tournament.
EMMA SWEENEY
A junior tennis star, Sweeney followed up her city championship in No. 1 singles with singles titles in last Tuesday's United Kansas Conference meet and Saturday's Class 5A regional tournament, leading the Vikings to a sweep of the team championships in all three events. Sweeney's latest title was a 6-0, 6-1 win over teammate Molly Gorman in the regional final.
