BRODY ANDERSON, Seaman
Anderson, a junior cross country standout, captured his first city boys individual championship in Saturday's city meet at Kanza Park, clocking a winning five-kilometer time of 15 minutes, 36 seconds. Anderson's win followed up a second-place city finish in his first season of high school cross country in 2023.
TAYSON HORAK, Rossville
A senior quarterback, Horak had a hand in five touchdowns Friday night as Rossville evened its record at 3-3 and improved to 3-0 in Class 1A District 2 play with a 71-24 home victory over Cair Paravel Latin. Horak scored on an 80-yard kickoff return, a 47-yard punt return, a 42-yard run, a 30-yard pass to Mahki Jackson and a 47-yard pass to Jack Donovan.
RYIN MILLER, Seaman
Miller, a junior girls cross country star, won her second staight individual city championship on Saturday at Kanza Park, clocking a five-kilometer time of 17 minutes, 08.3 seconds. Miller remained undefeated on the 2024 season with her sixth straight victory. Miller won Saturday's city title by a margin of 1 minute, 13 seconds.
EMMA SWEENEY, Seaman
A sophomore tennis standout, Sweeney won singles championsips in United Kansas Conference and Class 5A regional tournaments as Seaman won both team championships with perfect team scores. A state placer as a freshman, Sweeney took an 8-3 win over teammate Molly Gorman in the UKC singles final last Monday and a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gorman in Saturday's regional meet.
DAMON WEBB, Topeka West
Webb, a sophomore running back, rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns on 17 attempts as the Chargers picked up their first win of the 2024 season last Friday, a 32-20 United Kansas Conference victory over Kansas City-Turner at Hummer Sports Park. Webb scored touchdowns on 4, 8 and 17 yards against the Bears.
AINZLEY ZULUETA, Hayden
A two-time Class 4A state champion, the Wildcat senior tennis star captured Centennial League and 4A regional singles titles last week while leading Hayden to team crowns in both events. Zulueta took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Topeka High's Madeline Deters in the Centennial League final last Monday and took a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bishop Miege's Ella Daniel in Saturday's regional championship match, capping a string of four straight wins without dropping a game in eight sets.
