A senior golf star, Eckert shot a 2-under-par 68 to win the city individual championship by eight strokes last Monday at Western Hills, leading the Vikings to their first-ever city team title by a 14-stroke margin over runnerup Hayden. Eckert is a three-time Class 5A state medalist.

MOLLY GORMAN, Seaman

Gorman, a senior tennis standout, won her second straight city title in No. 2 singles and her third city championship overall, helping lead the Vikings to the city team championship by a 32-28 margin over runnerup Washburn Rural last Thursday at Kossover Tennis Center. Gorman's back to back No. 2 singles titles came after she teamed with Katie Krumins to win the No. 1 doubles title as a sophomore.

CAMDEN GRANADO, Shawnee Heights

A senior two-sport athlete for the T-Birds, Granado recorded a three-goal hat trick last Monday as Shawnee Heights took a 4-1 United Kansas Conference soccer victory over Topeka West at Hummer Sports Park. Granado has helped Shawnee Heights post seven straight victories since a season-opening loss. Granado also handles placekicking duties for Heights and is 11 of 11 on extra-point attemps.

CONNOR HANIKA, Hayden

A senior quarterback, Hanika completed 15 of 23 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for an 11-yard TD in Hayden's 42-6 home win over Wamego last Friday. Hanika helped lead the Wildcats to a fourth straight win as Hayden avenged a 2024 loss to the Red Raiders.

Playing in her hometown of Wichita, the Washburn University 5-foot-6 freshman forward scored the game's only goal in Sunday's 1-0 MIAA soccer win over Newman. Henke, a former standout for Bishop Carroll High School, has now scored a team-high four goals for the 4-2-2 Ichabods.

EMMA SWEENEY

A junior tennis standout, Sweeney captured the No. 1 singles championship in last Thursday's city tournament at Kossover Tennis Center, going 3-0 on the day without dropping a single game. Sweeney, a returning Class 5A state semifinalist, helped lead the Vikings to the team championship by a 32-28 margin over Washburn Rural.
