Seaman's Ryin Miller and Aaron Merritt and Washburn Rural's Josh Sulzen-Watson combined for four individual victories in the 101st Kansas Relays track and field championships, which wrapped up Saturday in Lawrence.
Miller, a sophomore, was a double champion, winning the girls 3,200 in 10 minutes, 13.97 seconds and taking the 1,600 in 4:53.74.
Salina Central's Katelyn Rupe finished second to Miller in the 3,200 in 10:17.40 while Gwyn Meyers of Bishop Kelley was the runnerup in the 1,600 in 4:56.62.
Merritt, a senior, won the championship in the boys 100-meter dash in 10.52 seconds, while Robert Collins of Staley, Mo. finished second in 10.56.
Merritt also posted a third-place finish in the 110 high hurdles in 14.35.
Sulzen-Watson, a senior, won the boys javelin event with a top toss of 195 feet, 7 inches on his fifth of six throws in the competition.
Joe Loughman of St. Thomas Aquinas finished second to Sulzen-Watson at 189-11.
Other area highlights:
• Topeka West junior Alesecio Batson placed third in the boys triple jump with a top jump of 45-103/4. Reece Grosserode of Lincoln Pius X won the event at 47-13/4.
• Washburn Rural's foursome of Payton Fink, Emily Graf, Rylee Ismert and Kenzie Maddox placed fourth in the girls distance medley relay in 12:37.72.
• Shawnee Heights senior distance star Jackson Esquibel finished fifth in the boys 3,200 in a time of 9 minutes, 13.85.
• Former Hayden multi-time state champion Jake Muller, now a freshman at Washburn University, teamed with Tyler Mooney, Jeremy Garcia and Jacob Herr to win the men's 4x400m relay team in a time of 3:18.45.
• Former Shawnee Heights star Ta'Mijha Nichols, a Washburn University freshman, finished second in the women's 100-meter dash with a personal-best and an NCAA provisional mark of 11.78.
• Silver Lake product Wyatt Heiman took fifth for Washburn in the men's 200 in a time of 21.70.
• Former Highland Park state champion Tre Richardson, competing unattached, finished fifth in the men's triple jump with a best jump of 47 feet, 5.50 inches on Friday and came back to finish third in the long jump on Saturday with a jump of 23-10.50.
