Seaman girls golf star Lois Deeter and Viking javelin standout Ally Trier signed their college letter of intents on Wednesday, with Deeter signing with Arkansas Tech and Trier with Emporia State.
Deeter finished seventh in the Class 5A state golf tournament as a senior after winning city and United Kansas Conference individual titles and finishing second in regional competition.
Deeter led Seaman to its first-ever league title by 51 strokes and to a regional team crown before earning her third state medal in as many high school golf seasons. Deeter placed fifth individually in 5A as a freshman and junior.
Trier was an All-Shawnee County track and field selection as a junior, posting a second-place finish in a 5A regional meet to qualify for state.
Trier was the city champion in the javelin with a personal-record throw of 132 feet, 10 inches.
High state champ Alvarez signs softball letter with KCKCC -- Topeka High catcher Alesia Alvarez, who helped lead the Trojans to the Class 6A state softball championship last spring, has signed with Kansas City Kansas Community College's softball program.
Alvarez received All-State, All-Centennial League and All-Shawnee County recognition as a junior.
Alvarez has also played tennis all four years at Topeka High and joined the Trojans' girls wrestling program last year, receiving All-City honorable mention.
High's Caryl signs softball letter with Illinois -- Topeka High multi-sport standout Adisyn Caryl has signed a softball letter of intent with Illinois.
Caryl has helped the Trojans win back-to-back Class 6A state softball championships and has also made multiple state appearances in tennis and basketball.
Caryl earned All-Shawnee County, All-Centennial League and All-Class 6A first-team honors last spring for the Trojans.
Adisyn Caryl will join older sister Zoe at Illinois.
Rural's Beck, Rohn sign soccer letters with Washburn -- Washburn Rural senior goalkeeper Hailey Beck and senior forward/midfielder Mackinly Rohn have signed letters of intent with Washburn University's soccer program.
Beck and Rohn helped the Junior Blues post a second-place finish in the 6A state tournament last spring and a third-place state finish in 2021.
Beck recorded 12 shutouts in goal last season and was named to the All-Centennial League second team as a junior.
Beck was also a multi-time 6A state qualfiier in tennis.
Rohn scored nine goals with 13 assists at forward and midfield as a junior as the Junior Blues posted a 17-3-1 record.
Rohn received All-Centennial League honorable mention last spring.
T-Bird duo signs volleyball letters of intent -- Shawnee Heights senior volleyball standouts Emily Loy and Taylor Rottinghaus are scheduled to sign college letters of intent at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Heights cafeteria.
Rottinghaus will sign with Washburn University while Loy is also headed to the MIAA, signing with Missouri Western.
Loy was an All-Shawnee County first-team pick as a junior and received All-United Kansas Conference second-team honors this past season.
Loy registered 285 kills and 35 total blocks as a senior while also contributing 225 digs, 31 assists and 19 aces on 97.1-percent serve efficiency.
Rottinghaus was named to the All-UKC first team and was named the conference defensive player of the year as a senior.
Rottinghaus recorded 376 digs and 75 assists while registering 22 service aces on 94.5-percent serve efficiency.
Trojans' Shields to sign with Kansas City -- Topeka High senior basketball standout Faith Shields is scheduled to sign a letter of intent with Kansas City University, formerly UMKC, at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 in the THS student cafeteria.
Shields, a guard, received All-Shawnee County and All-Centennial League honorable mention a year ago.
Also a soccer standout for the Trojans, Shields has helped Topeka High earn three straight Class 6A state tournament berths in basketball.
Silver Lake's Ross signs volleyball letter with Iowa Wesleyan -- Silver Lake senior volleyball standout Leah Cook, a senior outside hitter, has signed a letter of intent with Iowa Wesleyan.
A second-team All-Mid-East League selection as a senior, Cook registered 200 kills on the season.
