"I was about a millimeter from knocking it over,'' Hunt said of his narrow one-pin miss in the first frame. "I think the wind could have blown it down if I was any closer.''

But Hunt started his dominating string of strikes the next frame, ending his day with his season-high score.

"The right side of the lane just started hooking and I just used it to my advantage,'' Hunt said. "I just tried to take my time and breath in, breath out and every shot don't take about the last one, just think about the next one.''

With the biggest meets of the year coming up, Hunt said he feels pretty good about his game.

"I feel pretty confident about it,' Hunt said. "I just need to work on adjusting to the lanes a little bit better.''

Hunt rode his 279 to a 639 series while teammate Alex Prescott finished second with a 593 and Riley Parkhurst fourth with a 573 as the Vikings won the boys team title by a 2,365-2,201 margin over Lansing. Atchison and Highland Park also competed in Tuesday's quad.

Seaman also dominated the girls division, winning the team title with a score of 2,245 while sweeping all of the top five individual scores.

Seaman senior Kayla Mize won the girls individual title with a 591 series, followed by Cheyenne Turkin with a 548, Claire LaDuke with a 547, Paige Snyder with a 522 series and Ava Carlson to round out the top five.

"I feel like this season's been better for me and as a team,'' MIze said. "I felt pretty good about today actually. At the beginning when we were practicing I was iffy but then I just found the sweet spot and I just stuck with it.

"This was pretty much a good, good day.''

Seaman coach Bob Benoit said he feels pretty good about where both his boys and girls teams are at this point in the season after a stretch of inclement weather disrupted the Vikings' early-season schedule.

"I'm pretty pleased with how things have gone,'' Benoit said. "We really haven't had much time to practice and we've had meets cancelled. We've lost one meet that we won't be able to recover and we've just got some things we need to clean up and I think we'll be in good shape.

"It's mainly spares and we have a meet (Wednesday) and a meet Friday (the city championships) and then we're going to practice on Thursday, so I think once we get back on the lanes and we can get some repetition and fix a few things I think we'll be in good shape.''
