Highland Park's boys, ranked No. 3 in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, continued their hot start to the season Friday night, rolling past Kansas City-Wyandotte 76-30 in a Meadowlark Conference road contest.

The Scots got a breakout game from junior Ja'Corey Robinson, who had a 26-point night against the Bulldogs.
“Corey’s mix of length, skill and athleticism really helps us in so many phases,'' Highland Park coach Michael Williams said. "He caused turnovers, got guys the ball, finished plays, started offense for us and he controlled the glass.”
The Scots also got 19 points from senior Tamir Anderson.
“Tamir only had three 3s on the night, (but) they came in a big stretch to open the third quarter and he found other ways to contribute, getting free throws and layups,” Williams said.
The Scots had eight players crack the scoring column, with Hi Park getting six points each from senior Mister Cameron and junior Mikey Williams, five from senior Amari Taylor and two points apiece from senior Bryson Thrasher, junior Jamon Wilson and freshman JoJo Kingcannon.
“We are in the part of the season where we are accumulating data, what we are good at, what haven’t we seen, how are they gonna play us, what can we improve on, what we are doing well?'' Michael Williams said. "That and so many more questions you constantly answer.
"We’re in the midst of that right now, but all for the greater good of becoming the best basketball team we can possibly be.”
The Scots are headed to the holiday break 3-0 and will return for their home-opener against Class 4A No. 3 Atchison on Jan. 5.
HAYDEN BOYS 61, KC-BISHOP WARD 60 (OT)
Hayden scored 11 points in overtime to pull out a 61-60 non-league decision at Kansas City-Bishop Ward Friday night.
Senior Cooper Colboch and junior Jacob Deister scored 14 points apiece to lead Hayden, with Colboch canning three 3-pointers.
Senior Carter Charvat also cracked double figures for the Wildcats, scoring 12 points.
Eight players cracked the scoring column for the Wildcats, who improved to 3-1 on the season.
Hayden will play one more game before breaking for the holidays, hosting Shawnee Mission West on Wednesday.
HAYDEN GIRLS 61, KC-BISHOP WARD 7
Hayden's girls, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A by the KBCA, remained unbeaten on the season with a 61-7 non-league rout at Kansas City-Bishop Ward Friday night.
The 5-0 Wildcats were led by junior Kaliya Fulton with 14 points.
Hayden will return to action Jan. 2, hosting Emporia in its Centennial League opener.
SEAMAN GIRLS 49, DE SOTO 44
Seaman's girls got a tough test from De Soto on the road Friday night, but the Vikings remained unbeaten with a 49-44 United Kansas Conference win.
The Vikings, third-ranked in Class 5A by the KBCA, improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the UKC.
Seaman will return from the holiday break on Jan. 4 with a UKC road game at Leavenworth.
DE SOTO BOYS 68, SEAMAN 45
No. 5-ranked (Class 5A) Seaman fell to 2-2 on the season Friday night, dropping a 68-45 United Kansas Conference decision at De Soto.
The Vikings will return to action Jan. 5 at Leavenworth.
TOPEKA WEST GIRLS 57, KC-TURNER 22
Topeka West posted its third win in four nights, evening its record at 3-3 with Friday's 57-22 United Kansas Conference romp at Kansas City-Turner.
West will return from the Christmas break to host De Soto on Jan. 5.
TOPEKA WEST BOYS 67, KC-TURNER 47
No. 7-ranked (Class 5A) Topeka West bounced back from a Thursday night non-league loss to Junction City to improve to 4-2 with a 67-47 United Kansas Conference road win at Kansas City-Turner.
The Chargers will be at home Jan. 5 to host De Soto in a UKC contest.
SILVER LAKE GIRLS 66, ST. MARYS 47
Top-ranked (Class 3A) Silver Lake remained undefeated on the season with a 66-47 win over Mid-East League rival St. Marys Friday night.
Now 4-0 on the season, the Eagles will be back in action Tuesday, hosting No. 4-ranked Rossville.
ST. MARYS BOYS 64, SILVER LAKE 50
St. Marys handed Silver Lake its first loss of the season Friday night, with the Bears taking a 64-50 Mid-East League win over the Eagles.
Silver Lake, now 3-1, will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting rival Rossville.
