Hayden two-time state doubles champions Lauren Sandstrom and Emily Sheetz headline the 2023 All-City girls tennis team, which includes nine state medalists.
Sandstrom, a senior, and junior Sheetz capped a 33-3 season with their second straight Class 4A state title and their third state medal overall.
Shawnee Heghts junior Jette Glasenapp, 36-3 on the season, posted a runnerup state singles finish in 5A after sweeping city, United Kansas Conference and 5A regional titles.
Washburn Rural placed all six of its varsity players on the All-City team after the Junior Blues swept city, Centennial League and 6A regional team titles and tied for fifth in the state tournament.
The Junior Blues got eighth-place finishes in the 6A state tournament from the senior doubles team of Claire Ireland and Gabby Martinez and junior singles player Carolina Chedzoy.
Rural senior Mena DiMarzio and the junior doubles team of Emerie Catlin and Izzy Haggard also qualified for state, with DiMarzio, a two-time state qualifier, forced to miss the state tournament after suffering an injury at regionals.
United Kansas Conference and 5A regional team champion Seaman is represented on the All-City team by two-time state doubles medalists Katie Krumins, a senior, and sophomore Molly Gorman, as well as freshman 5A singles medalist Emma Sweeney.
Krumins and Gorman finished seventh in the '23 state meet while Sweeney placed 11th.

EMERIE CATLIN, Washburn Rural -- A junior, Catlin teamed with Izzy Haggard to advance to the Class 6A state tournament with a second-place regional finish. Catlin and Haggard won the city championship in No. 2 doubles and finished second in doubles in the Centennial League meet. Catlin and Haggard went 22-9 on the season, helping the Junior Blues sweep city, Centennial Leage and regional team titles and tie for fifth as a team at state..
CAROLINA CHEDZOY, Washburn Rural -- Chedzoy, a junior, capped her first season at Washburn Rural with an eighth-place singles finish in the Class 6A state tournament. Chedzoy, who went 23-11 on the season won a regional championship after finishing second in the city and Centennial League tournaments. Chedzoy helped lead the Junior Blues to city, Centennial League and regional team championships before Rural tied for fifth in 6A.
MENA DIMARZIO, Washburn Rural -- A senior, DiMarzio made it to the 6A state tournament for a second straight season with a fourth-place regional finsh in singles, but was unable to compete at state after suffering a season-ending injury at regionals. DiMarzio, who posted a 22-6 record on the season, won the city championship in No. 2 singles and was third in the Centennial League in singles while helping the Junior Blues sweep city, Centennial League and regional team titles..
JETTE GLASENAPP, Shawnee Heights -- Glasenapp, a junior foreign exchange student from Germany, swept city, United Kansas Conference and Class 5A regional singles championships before posting a second-place finish in the 5A state tournament. Glasenapp finished her only season of high school tennis with an outstanding 36-3 record and helped Shawnee Heights tie for sixth (seventh on a tiebreaker) in the 5A team standings as the T-Birds' lone state qualifier.
MOLLY GORMAN, Seaman -- A sophomore, Gorman teamed with senior Katie Krumins to win a second Class 5A state doubles medal, with Gorman and Krumins finishing seventh in 5A after placing 12th at state in the 2022 state meet. EMMA SWEENEY, Seaman -- Sweeney finished her freshman season with an 11th-place state finish in singles in the Class 5A state tournament last Saturday at Salina. Sweney, who posted a 26-13 record on the season, finished second in the United Kansas Conference and 5A regional tournaments and placed third in the city meet in No. 1 singles. Sweeney helped Seaman win UKC and regional team championships and the Vikings finished fifth in the 5A team standings.
