Washburn Rural seniors Luke Leonetti and Giles Frederickson capped their high school golf careers with banner performances in Tuesday's Class 6A state boys golf tournament at Mariah Hills in Dodge City, posting top-seven finishes as the Junior Blues posted a fifth-place team finish.

Leonetti finished sixth individually with a 36-hole total of 148 while Frederickson was right behind his teammate with a seventh-place finish at 149.

Leonetti shot a 75 Tuesday after an opening 73 while Frederickson shot a 73 in his final round after a 76 in the first round.

Senior Turner Depperschmidt finished at 160 for the Junior Blues while junior Andrew Burdett shot a 162 and freshman Tadd Armstrong and senior Maddox Hight finished at 164.

"Great playing by the guys today,'' Washburn Rural coach Jared Goehring said in a text.

Rural finished with a four-man score of 616, one stroke behind fourth-place Olathe West and three strokes ahead of Olathe Northwest.

Blue Valley and Blue Valley West both finished at 602, with Blue Valley winning the title in a tiebreaker. Olathe South finished third at 604.

Blue Valley West junior Carson Blake took medalist honors at 142.
