Washburn completed an undefeated home-opening weekend with a sweep of Newman on Friday night in Topeka.
The Ichabods (11-3 overall, 2-2 MIAA) will finish off their three-match homestand at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Emporia State.
All three sets Friday night went Washburn's way by double-digits, beginning with 25-12 in the first, followed by a 25-14 win in the second and a 25-10 victory to finish out the match.
The first four points of the match all went to the home squad, with two each coming from Jalyn Stevenson and Brynne Topolski.
The lead grew to double figures as part of a 5-0 run that was finished off by a kill from Austin Broadie off a pass from Sydney Conner. The Ichabods were able to trade points the rest of the way for an 11-point win in the first set.
After the Jets (3-14, 0-3 MIAA) won the opening point of the second set, the next four went to Washburn, starting with a block from Topolski and Alex Dvorak.
A 6-0 run beginning with a kill by Belle Limback made it an 11-4 score.
The Ichabods hit .417 as a team in the set, putting it out of reach with seven straight points after an ace by Taryn Marcum. Newman won three in a row before Washburn finished out the 25-14 victory.

The Washburn University women's soccer team earned a MIAA road win on Friday night, defeating the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers 3-0 in Kearney, Neb.
The two teams were unable to score in the first half, with shot attempts hard to come by for both squads. Washburn had opportunities to score from scrambles in the Lopers' six-yard box, but the Loper defense was able to clear the ball each time.
The second half proved to be a polar opposite of the first, with the Ichabods kicking off and taking the lead within the first minute.
Former Washburn Rural star Belle Kennedy, a junior, found the bottom left corner of the net after receiving a well-placed pass from Shaye Taylor, giving Taylor her first assist in a Washburn uniform.
Washburn would extend its lead in the 69th minute when an Aubrey Tanksley cross found senior Khloe Schuckman, whose high-powered shot from the edge of the penalty box found the top of the goal to put the Ichabods up 2-0.

It was a nice evening Friday night at Hayden High School as the Wildcats would bounce back from a Week 4 loss at Wamego in dominating fashion with a 49-0 shutout Class 3A district win.
The game would start off with Hayden receiving and junior Kade Mitchell catching the kickoff and returning it 85 yards to the house to open up the scoring for the Wildcats.
“I thought we did a great job blocking for him as he didn’t get touched, he made one cut and was gone.” Hayden coach Bill Arnold said.
“They kicked it to me and I was like, 'This is my time to do something,' and I made a cut and went.” Mitchell said.
That isn’t all the Wildcats would get from their standout back as he would add 112 yards on eight carries and 26 yards on three catches with a total of four touchdowns.
“It's all glory to God. I thank him every time I come out here and trust in him and he lets me come out here and play and thank you to my teammates. My o-line does a great job and its awesome to play behind them.” Mitchell said.
“I think offensively he did a good job running the ball, I thought all our kids played hard tonight.” Arnold said.
Hayden would go into halftime up 28-0 and added three more touchdowns in the second half.
