Washburn Rural and Hayden have combined to win 10 state team championships and six individual state titles, so it shouldn't be a big surprise to see the Junior Blues and Wildcats well-represented on the ballot to pick the greatest women's golfer in Shawnee County history.
There's former Rural stars like former state champs Megan Lucas and Adin Stromgren and multi-time state medalist and current Kansas standout Abby Glynn to pick from, while Brooke LaRue was a two-time state champ for Hayden and Wildcats Caroline Setter and Lauren Falley also won state titles.

Beginning Sunday's final round of the Topeka Golf Association Ed Bozarth City Stroke Play tournament with a three-stroke lead, Ben Moser's only goal was to make sure he didn't do anything to beat himself.
Moser, a Washburn Rural and Washburn University product, accomplished that goal with a closing 75 at Topeka Country Club to take the championship by two strokes over perennial contender Mark Elliott.

"I had a chance to be stupid on 18,'' said Moser, who won the City Match Play event earlier this summer. "I was sitting there with my driver while we were waiting on the group in front of us and I was like, 'You know what, I've been here before, I know not to do this,' so I decided to go back to the golf cart and I hit my 3-iron instead and it worked out great.
"Having a big lead like that is a lot tougher than you think because you've got that thought, 'Don't blow it,' so I was just trying not to blow it and luckily this golf course yields more high scores so that gave me a little bit more comfort or a little bit more cushion.''

There's a long list of athletes who deserve consideration as the top men's cross country runner in Shawnee Country history.
The tough part will be picking just one.
Topeka West grad Robbie Hays, Seaman's Grant Cain and Washburn Rural's Jacob Morgan were all two-time state individual champions, with both Hays and Morgan going on to compete in the NCAA Championships.

Former Shawnee Heights superstar Trisa Nickoley was a four-time Class 5A state cross country champion and never lost an individual state high school race in either cross country or track.
But while Nickoley is a great place to start TSN's Battle of the Best race to name the all-time best women's cross country runner in Shawnee County history, the former T-Bird and Missouri Tiger star is certainly not the only contender.
