BAYAMON, P.R. -- Washburn University women's basketball hit the century mark as it wrapped up its time at the Puerto Rico Clasico with a 100-43 win over Ana G Mendez on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ichabods got back to .500 on the year at 6-6 as they return to conference action against Central Missouri in Warrensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Junior Yibari Nwidadah picked up where she left off the day before, scoring the first six points of the game for Washburn to help build a 9-1 lead at the 5:28 mark.
The advantage grew to double figures with 3:17 to go at 17-6. The Trinos scored the next five points to pull within six in the final minutes before the Ichabods finished on a 6-0 run to lead 23-11 after one.
The Ichabods began the second quarter with a 13-0 run, capped by a fastbreak layup from Madelyn Amekporfor at the 7:33 mark. The lead grew to 30-points after Payton Sterk made a pair of free throws with 4:05 left in the half.
Washburn's defense tightened up after the first quarter, holding the Trinos to 1-16 shooting (6.25 percent) in the quarter and just four points to lead 52-15 at halftime.

The Seaman Viking boys pulled away from the Kansas City-Turner Bears after a close first quarter Tuesday night, taking a 66-47 home United Kansas Conference victory.
In the first quarter, the Vikings jumped out to a quick lead, but the Bears were able to cut into the deficit and trail 14-11 at the end of the quarter.

But for the remainder of the game, Seaman was able to lock in defensively.
“I thought the key for us was our defense in the second quarter,” Seaman coach Craig Cox said. The Vikings held the Bears to 2-9 shooting from the field and only 4 points.
The defensive intensity continued in the third quarter as Seaman extended its lead to 51-31.
Cox commented on the play of a couple of his players, “It was nice to see junior Landon Wiltz and senior Bryer Finley take advantage of the opportunities they had throughout the game.”

The top-ranked Seaman Lady Vikings hosted the Turner Bears Tuesday night as they began the final week before the holiday break.

The Lady Vikes dominated the game from the opening tip and led at the end of the first quarter, 34-0. The Lady Vikes shot 74 percent (17-23) from the field in the quarter.
The Lady Vikes outscored the Bears in the second quarter 14-1, taking a commanding 48-1 lead to the halftime break.
“We shared the ball and got everyone involved. It was good to see some kids get their head up,” commented Seaman coach Matt Tinsley.
Turner was able to score 8 points in the third quarter, but still was outscored by 10 and trailed 66-9 heading into the fourth quarter.
The running clock was enforced in the final quarter and the Lady Vikes were victorious, 81-11.
Tinsley said, “These girls are very unselfish and they know it’s not about them individually, but always team first.”
The Lady Vikes were led by senior Anna Becker with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. She also surpassed 1,000 points for her career. Fellow senior Ava Esser dropped in 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Senior Kinley Wilhelm pitched in 16 points.

The Rossville boys overcame a 14-point second-quarter deficit to pull away from Silver Lake in a wild second half, winning 79-74.
As would be expected in the heated “War on 24,” the intensity lasted from wire-to-wire Tuesday night at Rossville.

Down 28-14 two minutes into the second period, the Bulldawgs kept the faith and let junior Jack Donovan start chipping away. His seven points keyed a 14-6 run the rest of the period. The Bulldawgs went to the locker room down just 34-30.
The Bulldawgs continued to roll on the other side of the intermission. They went on a 29-3 run that saw them lead by as much as 19.
“We’ve been in this situation before. We’ve got to learn how to deal with that adversity and the boys have to figure that out on the court,” Rossville coach Brandon McDonnell said. “So, when we get into these pressure situations, they embrace it. And that makes it even sweeter when they get out of that pressure situation.”
“I think we were fine, but we were ready to fight back,” Donovan said about falling behind early. “Coach is fiery. He gets us to play hard and it’s fun. We just started hitting shots, playing better defense, getting stops. That’s what let us go on that run.”
After being held to just two points in the opening period, Donovan lit up the Eagles for 28, including four long-range 3-pointers.
“When he’s pulling these long-distance threes, we’re not surprised by it because that’s what he does,” McDonnell said. “If he misses, we’re like ‘You sick? What’s wrong?’ ”
“I’ve been watching these games my entire life, and it’s just fun to play in them,” Donovan said of the rivalry with Silver Lake. “It’s definitely a different atmosphere.”

Barring a huge upset, the No. 3 state-ranked Shawnee Heights boys basketball team was going to win Tuesday night's home United Kansas Conference game against winless Lansing.
But after relinquishing a 14-point lead in a three-point loss to Piper its last time out, Shawnee Heights coach Ken Darting wanted a lot more out of his team than just a victory.

And Darting got exactly what he was looking for, with Shawnee Heights improving to 2-1 overall and in the UKC with a 66-24 romp past the Lions.
"Believe me, they were challenged to have energy tonight, and that's what I enjoyed,'' Darting said. "The thing you wanted to do tonight was play yourself. Play the game right, don't make turnovers, go to the boards, shoot free throws and we did that I think.
"I always worry about playing up, playing down to the competition and just want to play us every night and I thought we did that.''
Shawnee Heights missed some shots early and actually trailed 5-2 and 7-6 but the T-Birds scored the final seven points of the opening quarter to take a 13-7 lead and never looked back.
The T-Birds hit the Lions with a 23-9 second quarter to take a 36-16 advantage to the locker room at halftime and then limited Lansing to just eight second-half points as Shawnee Heights pulled away for the 42-point win.
