Beckler, a Washburn Rural graduate, tied the Topeka Country Club amateur record with a 64 last Monday and the senior went on to win the individual championship in the Washburn Invitational by 13 strokes with a 13-under-par 54-hole score of 200 as the Ichabod golf team won the team title by nine strokes.

A freshman, the former Shawnee Heights softball star pitched a no-hitter in the Ichabods' 2-0 MIAA win over Fort Hays State last Friday and Ginter also picked up the pitching win in Sunday's 7-6 win over Nebraska-Kearney while going 3 for 5 at the plate and knocking in the winning run.

Topeka High star NiJaree Canady, a 6-foot junior, has been named an All-Class 6A first-team selection by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association after leading the Trojans to a 23-2 record and a second-place finish in the 6A state tournament.
Trojan sophomore Kiki Smith (5-8) was also honored by the KBCA, earning second-team All-6A recognition.
Washburn Rural sophomore Brooklyn DeLeye (6-2) and junior Emma Krueger (5-11) both received All-6A honorable mention.

The Topeka Golden Giants are looking for families willing to host a college athlete for this summer during the Golden Giants' 2021 baseball season.
The players are to report on May 31 and the Giants' season will conclude July 29 as the last possible playoff game.
Golden Giant host families will receive two season tickets, two hats and T-shirts, as well as other fun promotional items at the games. Our athletes get the opportunity to become a part of your family for the summer and build a lasting relationship.

First-year Hayden girls swimming coach John-Martin Schmidt began the 2021 season with high hopes for his Wildcats.
"We are all very excited to get back to racing after last season,'' said Schmidt, a Hayden alum and former multi-time state champion for the Wildcats. "We have a younger team, led by our 10 seniors who provide lots of experience and leadership.
"We have one of the best teams in Topeka and can't wait to get to our first meet.''
Hayden got that chance in last week's season-opening Topeka West Invitational at the Capitol Federal Natatorium and the Wildcats' solid performance only added to Schmidt's high expectations.

A day after having its nine-game win streak ended by Fort Hays State, the Washburn softball team started a new streak with a doubleheader sweep over Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at Gahnstrom Field.
The Ichabods needed an extra inning to take a 7-6 win in the first game before dominating the second game 7-0 behind pitcher Raegen Hamm to improve to 19-4 and 5-1 in the MIAA.
