Junior Jaley Barkley led the way with 20 points and three 3-pointers as Cair Paravel Latin’s girls basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 46-40 road win at Olathe Heritage Christian Friday night.

Barkley, who went 7 of 9 at the free throw line, was joined in double figures by freshman Josie Barkley, who had 11 points.

Cair Paravel trailed Olathe Heritage 35-31 at the start of the fourth quarter before holding a 15-5 scoring edge the rest of the way.

Caelyn Ferguson led Olathe Heritage, 1-3, with 11 points. 

Cair Paravel  will return to action Monday, hosting Burlingame in a 5:30 p.m. contest.

OLATHE HERITAGE BOYS 83, CAIR PARAVEL 75

Zach Clark and Luke Fay combined for 55 points in Friday night’s 83-75 Cair Paravel loss to Olathe Heritage Christian.

Clark finished with a game-high 29 points for the Lions while Fay had 26 points, including seven 3-pointers. Noah Hastert also cracked double figures for Cair Paravel, finishing with 11 points before fouling out.

Heritage (3-2) built a 37-28 halftime lead before a tight second half that saw Cair Paravel hold a 47-46 scoring edge.

Cair Paravel (3-3) will return to action Monday night, hosting Kansas City Christian in a 7 p.m. contest.

LANSING BOYS 64, SHAWNEE HEIGHTS 51

Shawnee Heights (1-2) played without three starters, including leading scorer Isiah Johnson, and couldn’t keep pace with Lansing, which opened up a commanding 46-20 halftime advantage en route to improving to 4-1 on the season.

Heights played without Johnson, who is averaging 30.5 points a game, along with fellow starters Andrew Rantz and Nathan Pewe due to COVID-19 protocols.

Sophomore Dante’ Harrison led the T-Birds with 13 points while senior Harvey Davis added 10 points.

Cadn Crawford scored 15 points for Lansing to lead four double-figure scorers for the Lions.
