But it was plenty good enough, with the Vikings taking the regional team championship in a tiebreaker over St. Thomas Aquinas to qualify their entire team for next Monday's state tournament at Hesston.

Seaman senior Lois Deeter shot an 83 to finish second individually while junior Avery Samuelson was third with a 94, junior Riley Adams tied for sixth with a 100 and sophomore Anna McLaughlin tied for 12th with a 102 to round out the Vikings' top four.

Both Seaman and St. Thomas Aquinas finished with a four-person score of 379, with sophomore Jaycee Zimmerman giving the Vikings the title with a fifth score of 105.

"You never complain about a win, you're never going to complain about that,'' Seaman coach Julie McLaughlin said. "It was a tough day. The wind was tough to play in and there was some good competition out there and we squeaked by. Everybody contributed.''

Topeka West sophomore Alex Baxter tied for 10th place with a 101, earning an individual berth for the state tournaments, while Shawnee Heights junior Karlyn Bowman also earned a state berth, shooting a 104 to tie for 16th place.

Aquinas sophomore Katherine Adkins took medalist honors with an 80.

The Vikings will use the next several days to get ready for state.

"We're really going to concentrate on their short game and look ahead to next Monday and Tuesday,'' Julie McLaughlin said.

Deeter, who has posted a pair of top-five 5A state finishes in her two state appearances, said all of her focus is on the state tournament.

"I want to go win state, go play good with the team,'' Deeter said. "By the end of the whole season people ask, 'How'd state go?' It's not about all the other tournaments, it's, 'How did state go?' So let's go get state.''
