In a high-scoring first quarter, Piper shot 50 percent from the field while the Lady Vikes shot a blistering 80 percent on the way to a 19-14 first-quarter lead.

“We were scoring the ball pretty good in the first quarter,'' Seaman coach Matt Tinsley said. "Against a zone, we want to swing it and play, not swing it and stand.”

Both teams cooled off in the second quarter with Seaman heading into halftime with a 31-20 lead.

The Lady Vikes continued their excellent offensive production and extended the lead to greater than 20 points for the majority of the second half.

“I was pleased with the game from a standpoint of offensive execution.  We scored on five possessions in a row when they went man to man,” Tinsley said. “Our balanced attack is the strength of our team.  I thought all the girls executed their roles.

"We always stress that it takes 10 hands to score and we need to continue to get everyone involved.”

Four Seaman players finished in double figures, led by junior Anna Becker with 15 points. Sophomore Maddie Gragg added 13 points, junior Jaida Stallbaumer 12 and junior Ava Esser 10 points.

Piper was led by Annaliese Lockwood with 16 points and Lauren Marron with 12.

Seaman will be back in action on Friday at 5:45 p.m. when the Vikings travel to De Soto to face another United Kansas Conference foe.
