Seaman girls soccer coach Kyle Seevers is still looking for his Vikings to put more shots in the back of the net as the season moves on.

But the Vikings are making progress in that area, including a season-high six goals Tuesday night in Seaman's 6-0 United Kansas Conference romp past Topeka West at Hummer Sports Park.

"I think we're going to keep making progress,'' Seevers said. "We're going to pick up the intensity at practice and training.

"We're going to pick it up a hair each training session so that we can get balls in the back of the net. We can create (opportunities). Unfortunately, sometimes we can't put them in the back of the net so those creations don't count for anything but a pat on the back.''

Sophomore Ryin Miller and freshman Julia Molleker scored two goals apiece for the Vikings while Seaman also got goals from senior Marin Schuler and sophomore Maya Martin.

Miller, Marin Schuler and sophomore Elle LaBin were credited with assists and senior Makena Schuler recorded the shutout in goal as Seaman improved to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the UKC with its third straight shutout.

Miller scored the only goal Seaman would need at the 33:14 mark of the opening half and Miller added her second goal at the 31:31 mark and the Vikings were off and running.

Marin Schuler made it a 3-0 game with a goal at the 28:26 mark and Molleker gave Seaman a commanding 4-0 halftime advantage with a goal at the 7:33 mark.

Molleker scored her second goal with 30:18 remaining and sophomore Maya Martin scored the Vikings' final goal of the night with 22:13 left.

Seevers feels like the Vikings are creating a lot of depth which could pay dividends over the season.

"Tonight we played a lot of kids and we have three games this week so we're trying to keep everybody fresh, keep them engaged and kind of keep the camaraderie of the team going,'' Seevers said.

Topeka West fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the UKC, with Seaman ending West's two-game win streak.

Seaman will be at home Thursday to host Shawnee Heights in a UKC contest while Topeka West will travel to Kansas City-Turner.

Seaman will also be in action Saturday, hosting Cair Paravel Latin in a non-league contest.
