Generally speaking, football linemen are very rarely in the spotlight.
That will change on Monday, June 21, when Shawnee Heights hosts the "Battle of the Bigs'' lineman challenge (5:30 p.m. start).
Shawnee Heights football coach Jason Swift said that the event "is a great way for linemen to build unity and compete in a non-contact competitive setting.''
Prizes and plaques will be given to the top five individuals and top five-man team.
Participating athetes will take part in nine measured events:
• 40-yard scoop and score.
• Tractor tire flip.
• Pro agility drill.
• 10-yard sled pull.
• 185-pound bench press for reps.
• Medicine ball toss.
• 10-yard sled drive.
• Pursuit drill.
• Obstacle course.
Cost is $20 and registration will begin at 5 p.m. on the 21st. Checks should be made payable to Shawnee Heights football.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt and free food.
A plaque will be presented to the top five-man team from the same school and bucket hats will be given to the top five individuals.
