Highland Park's boys basketball team ran its winning streak to six games Monday night, rallying for a 57-50 Centennial League win at Emporia.

The Scots, who improved to 9-5 overall and 8-3 in the league, trailed 24-17 at the half after a 15-4 second quarter by Emporia, but Highland Park outscored the Spartans 40-26 in the second half.

Highland Park used an 18-8 third quarter to take a 35-32 advantage into the fourth quarter and outscored Emporia 22-18 the rest of the way.

Senior CJ Powell and junior Juan'Tario Roberts led the Scots with 19 points apiece while senior MuKhajhae Daniels added 11 points, including a 9 of 16 performance at the free throw line as Highland Park hit 23 of 36 attempts.

Senior Charles Snyder led Emporia (7-8, 4-7) with 13 points.

EMPORIA GIRLS 81, HIGHLAND PARK 6

Highland Park, playing without junior standout Aisya Taylor, was no match for Emporia, which outscored the Scots 29-2 in the first quarter and 47-2 in the first half on the way to Monday's 81-6 win.

The Scots only had five available players and had one player fould out. Senior Isabella Carter scored 6 points for Highland Park, which fell to 0-11 overall and 0-10 in the Centennial League.

Junior Gracie Gilpin led Emporia (9-6, 6-4) with 20 points.
