Washburn Rural earned nine of 11 spots on the 2026 All-City boys swimming and diving team, led by Class 6A state champion Daniel Allen, after the Junior Blues capturned their seventh straight city team championship.

Allen capped his junior season with the state title in the 100-yard butterfly while also placing third in the 100 backstroke and swimming on the Junior Blues' fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay.

Sophomore Thomas Appuhn also earned four medals in the state meet, posting fourth-place finishes in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke and swimming on Rural's fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay.

Junior Andres Morao-Jaspe and sophomore Castle Wallace also earned 6A state medals as Washburn Rural placed sixth as team and are joined on the All-City team by Benjamin Allen, Zain Chaudhry, Alexander Jeffries, Braeden Montgomery and Davin Potts. 

Appuhn, Morao-Jaspe and Wallace are all first-team All-City repeat honorees while D. Allen made the team as a freshman before sitting out his sophomore high school season.

Seaman's Kinser Barbosa and Topeka High's Will Stewart are also repeat first-team All-City selections.

All-City capsules:

BENJAMIN ALLEN, Washburn Rural -- A freshman, Allen posted second-place finishes in the city meet in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly and swam on the Junior Blues' second-place 400 free relay and third-place 200 free relay as Rural won its seventh straight city team championship by a 609-371 margin over Seaman. Allen also helped Washburn Rural win the Centennial League title, earning second-team recognition in the Centennial League  

DANIEL ALLEN, Washburn Rural -- Allen, a junior, captured four medals in the Class 6A state meet, including the state championship in the 100-yard butterfly. Allen placed third in the 100 backstroke and swam on the Junior Blues' fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay as Washburn Rural finished sixth as a team. Allen won four gold medals in the city and Centennial League meets as Rural won the team titles in both those events. Allen was also a multiple 6A state medalist as a freshman in 2024 before sitting out his sophomore high school campaign.   

THOMAS APPUHN, Washburn Rural -- A sophomore two-time All-City pick, Appuhn won four Class 6A medals in the recent state meet, helping lead the Junior Blues to a sixth-place team finish. Appuhn finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and fourth in the 100 backstroke and swam on Rural's fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay. Appuhn captured three gold medals and also posted a runnerup finish in the city meet and also won three golds and a silver in the Centennial League meet, helping Washburn Rural win both team titles. 

KINSER BARBOSA, Seaman -- A junior repeat All-City first-team honoree, Barbosa was the city champion in the 50-yard and 100 freestyle events and was a member of the Vikings' second-place 200 medley and 200 free relay teams. Barbosa captured gold medals in the United Kansas Conference in the 200 freestyle and 500 free and swam on the Vikings' third-place 200 medley relay and 200 free relays. Barbosa earned a Class 5A-1A state medal with a seventh-place finish in the 100 freestyle and he tied for 11th in the 50 free.

ZAIN CHAUDHRY, Washburn Rural -- Chaudhry earned his place on the All-City first team with third-place finishes in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke, helping Washburn Rural win its seventh straight city team championship with a dominating win. Chaudhry also helped the Junior Blues win the Centennial League team championship, earning second-team all-league recognition.

ALEXANDER JEFFRIES, Washburn Rural -- Jeffries finished third individually in the city meet in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke as Washburn Rural rolled to its seventh straight team championship and he posted a runnerup finish in the 100 breaststroke and a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle as the Junior Blues won the team title. Jeffries helped Rural post a 12th-place 'B' 400 free relay.  

ANDRES MORAO-JASPE, Washburn Rural -- Morao-Jaspe, a junior, is a three-time All-City selection after finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley and 500 freestyle and swimming on the Junior Blues' winning 400 free relay in the 2026 city meet as Rural won its seventh straight city title. Morao-Jaspe finished second in the Centennial League in the 200 individual medley and 500 free and swam on Rural's winning 200 medley and 400 free relays for the team-champion Junior Blues. Morao-Jaspe posted a 10th-place finish in the 'B' final in the 100 backstroke.

BRAEDEN MONTGOMERY, Washburn Rural -- Montgomery earned All-City recognition as a freshman by winning the city championship in the 200-yard freestyle and 500 free and swimming on the Junior Blues' winning 400 free relay as Washburn Rural won its seventh straight city team title. Montgomery won the Centennial League championship in the 500 freestyle and he finished second in the 200 freestyle and swam on Rural's winning 400 free relay. Montgomery finished 15th at state in the 500 free 'B' final.

DAVIN POTTS, Washburn Rural -- Potts earned his spot on the 2026 All-City team by winning the city title in the one-meter diving event as Washburn Rural rolled to its seventh straight city team title by 238 points. Potts also won the gold medal in diving in the Centennial League meet as the Junior Blues claimed the team championship. 

WILL STEWART, Topeka High -- Stewart, a senior All-City first-team repeater, finished second in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle in the city meet and helped Topeka High finish third in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Stewart posted third-place finishes in the Centennial League championships in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.  

CASTLE WALLACE, Washburn Rural -- Wallace, a sophomore, was the city champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished third in the 100 free and swam on Rural's winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay as the Junior Blues won their seventh straight city team title. Castle won the Centennial League 100 breaststroke and swam on Rural's winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams, helping the Junior Blues win the team championship. Wallace swam on Rural's fourth-place 200 medley relay in the Class 6A state meet.
