Hayden had its two-year Class 4A state championship reign ended by Wamego Tuesday at Hutchinson's Carey Park, but the Wildcats posted a top-four team finish as seniors Izzy Glotzbach and Lauren Borjon ended their high school careers with state medals.

Glotzbach tied for fifth individually with a 36-hole total of 164 (85-79) while Borjon tied for 12th at 170 (88-82).

Hayden's Brooke Johnson tied for 23rd with a two-day total of 178 (89-89), one stroke out of 20th.

Kellyn Specht finished at 196 (99-97), Morgan Johnson was at 213 (104-109) and Avery Becker at 226 (116-110) for the Wildcats.

Wamego star Addison Douglass won her fourth straight state title by a seven-stroke margin with a 36-hole score of 145 (77-68) as the Red Raiders won the team championship by 40 strokes over Goodland (658-698).

McPherson was third at 701 while Hayden was fourth at 708.

Hanni fifth in Class 3A-1A to lead Eagles to fourth-place showing

Silver Lake multi-sport standout Kailyn Hanni closed out her high school golf career with a fifth-place finish in Class 3A-1A Tuesday at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

Hanni posted a 36-hole score of 164, carding rounds of 81 and 83, as Silver Lake, which had placed first and second in the previous two 3A-1A state tournaments, finished fourth as a team at 729. 

The Eagles' Savanah Wende narrowly missed a state medal with a tie for 21st at 184 (93-91) while Silver Lake got a tie for 29th from Avenley Head (99-89 -- 188) and a tie for 36th from Morgan Ackerley (91-102 -- 193) to round out its top four.

Rossville's Elley Sanders, competing as an individual, tied for 36th at 193 (95-98).

Goodland's Allison Cure was the individual state champion at 150 (73-77) as the Cowboys won the team title by a 31-stroke margin over Jefferson West. St. Marys Colgan finished third at 718.

Vikings' Eckert wins fourth straight Class 5A state medal

Senior Elise Eckert tied for fifth place individually in Tuesday's final round of the Class 5A state tournament at Emporia Municipal Golf Course, leading the Vikings to a tie for fifth in the team standings.

Eckert earned her fourth straight state medal with a 36-hole score of 161 (77-84) while Seaman's Chloe Schmidtlein also earned a 5A medal, finishing in a tie for 19th at 183 (91-92).

The Vikings also got a tie for 27th from Kaitlynn Frye (95-93 -- 198), a tie for 31st from Makenna Stuke (91-101 -- 192) and a tie for 38th from Molly Quintana (98-101 -- 199).

Andover's Regan Dusenbery won the 5A individual championship with a 3-under-par 36-hole total of 139 (68-71) while Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the team title by a huge 45-stroke margin over Andover (647-692).

St. James Academy was third at 700, while Bishop Carroll placed fourth (722), two strokes in front of Blue Valley Southwest and Seaman.

State medalist Cox paces Rural in Class 6A

Washburn Rural senior Lauren Cox capped her prep career with a state medal in Tuesday's Class 6A state tournament at Hesston Golf Course, placing 18th with a 36-hole 167 total (85-82).

Cox was one of five Junior Blues that advanced to Tuesday's final round as individuals, with Taryn Jellison (89-88) and Kailyn Petersen (87-90) tying for 31st at 177.

Peyton Merrick placed 44th at 188 (92-96) and Ella Taggart tied for 45th at 189 (93-96).

Manhattan rallied on Tuesday to claim the team championship by a 12-stroke margin over first-day leader Shawnee Mission East (617-629).

East's Ella Slicker won the individual title with a 36-hole score of 148 (70-78) while Manhattan's Maddie Myers and Kat Ball finished second and third. Myers shot rounds of 75 and 74 to finish at 149 while Ball finished at 150 with rounds of 76 and 74.
