Five state placers who helped their schools win state team championships headline the 2023 All-Shawnee County girls golf team.
Hayden senior Hannah Reynoldson and sophomores Lauren Borjon and Izzy Glotzbach all earned all-county first-team recognition after helping lead the Wildcats to a 37-stroke victory in the Class 4A state tournament while Silver Lake senior Klara Kleinig and junior Taylor Zordel are first-team picks after leading Silver Lake to a 22-stroke team championship in 3A-1A.
Glotzbach tied for ninth, Reynoldson 14th and Borjon 15th in 4A while Kleinig tied for second and Zordel took fourth in 3A-1A.
Also earning all-county first-team honors were Washburn Rural seniors Raegan Petersen and Olivia Smith, Topeka High senior Avery Zimmerman and Seaman senior Avery Samuelson.
Petersen and Samuelson earned state medals while Smith finished 22nd in 6A and city champion Zimmerman was a three-time state qualifier.
Petersen, Zimmerman and Zordel are All-Shawnee County first-team repeaters while Glotzbach, Reynoldson and Samuelson all move up to the first team after being second-team picks in 2022.
Named to this year's second team were Washburn Rural juniors Natalie Peterson, Reece Randall and Colbey Stead along with Hayden senior Avery Grunert and Seaman sophomore Makenna Stuke and junior Jaycee Zimmerman.

LAUREN BORJON, Hayden -- Borjon, a sophomore, helped Hayden win the Class 4A state title by a 37-stroke margin, finishing 15th individually with a 165 36-hole score (85-80). Borjon tied for first for the team-champion Wildcats in the city tournament with a 76, finishing second in a playoff, tied for seventh in regional competition (88) and shot an 89 in the Centennial League tournament.
IZZY GLOTZBACH, Hayden -- A sophomore, Glotzbach shot a team low 161 at state (79-82) to tie for ninth in Class 4A, helping Hayden post a runaway 37-stroke win in the team standings. Glotzbach finished third in the city tournament (81) to help Hayden win the city team title and tited for ninth at regionals (88). Glotzbach earned second-team All-Shawnee County recognition as a freshman.
KLARA KLEINIG, Silver Lake -- Kleinig, a foreign exchange student from Germany, tied for second in the Class 3A-1A state tournament with back-to-back rounds of 80. Kleinig led Silver Lake to its first-ever girls golf state championship by a 22-stroke margin. Kleinig won the individual regional championship with a 75 for the team-champion Eagles and finished second in the Silver Lake Invitational with an 83.
RAEGAN PETERSEN, Washburn Rural -- Petersen, a senior, finished 17th in the Class 6A state tournament with a 36-hole score of 166 (83-83), earning her second straight 6A state medal and leading Rural to a fourth-place team finish. Petersen tied for seventh at regionals (85), tied for fifth in the city meet (83) and was 13th in the Centennial League (89). Petersen is an All-Shawnee County first-team repeater.
HANNAH REYNOLDSON, Hayden -- A senior, Reynoldson placed 14th in the Class 4A state tournament at 164 (84-80) to help the Wildcats win the state team championship by a 37-stroke margin. Reynoldson placed fourth in the city tournament with an 82 to help Hayden win the city team title and placed eighth in the Centennial League and 13th at regionals. Reynoldson was a second-team All-Shawnee County selection as a junior.
AVERY SAMUELSON, Seaman -- Samuelson, a senior, earned a Class 5A state medal with a tie for 18th at Hutchinson with a 36-hole score of 176 (90-86). Samuelson placed fourth in the regional tournament with an 86 and placed fourth in the United Kansas Conference tournament with an 86 as the Vikings won the team championship in both of those events. Samuelson, a second-team All-Shawnee County pick as a junior, shot an 87 in the city tournament.
OLIVIA SMITH, Washburn Rural -- A senior, Smith narrowly missed a Class 6A state medal at Emporia, tying for 22nd place at 169 (87-82) while helping Washburn Rural post a fourth-place team finish. Smith tied for 12th in 6A regional competition to help Rural earn a state team berth after tying for 11th in the Centennial League tournament with 86 and tying for fifth in the city meet with an 83.
AVERY ZIMMERMAN, Topeka High -- Zimmerman, a senior, was the 2023 individual city champion, shooting a 76 and winning the title on the first playoff hole. Zimmerman qualified for the 6A state tournament as an individual for the third straight season with an 89, tying for 16th place in 6A regional competition. Zimmerman tied for 11th individually in the Centennial League tournament (86) and is an All-Shawnee County first-team repeat pick.
TAYLOR ZORDEL, Silver Lake -- Zordel, a junior, earned her third straight Class 3A-1A state medal while helping Silver Lake win its first state girls golf championship in school history by a 22-stroke margin. Zordel placed fourth in the state tournament with a 36-hole score of 163 (83-80) after posting a third-place regional finish with an 80 for the regional-champion Eagles. Zordel won the Silver Lake Invitational (78) and is a first-team All-Shawnee County repeater.
