Silver Lake senior girls basketball standout McKinley Kruger reached the 1,000-point scoring milestone Thursday in the Eagles' 62-30 home Mid-East League victory over Riley County.
Kruger scored 18 points as the undefeated and top-ranked (Class 3A) Eagles improved to 7-0 while senior Makenzie McDaniel led all scorers with 20 points and sophomore Kailyn Hanni added nine points.
Silver Lake jumped out in front 22-7 in the first quarter and took a commanding 38-16 halftime lead.
The Eagles outscored the Falcons 22-8 in the third quarter to take a 60-24 lead and a running score was used throughout the fourth quarter.
SILVER LAKE BOYS 53, RILEY COUNTY 38
Silver Lake outscored Riley County 27-15 in the second half to pull away for a 53-38 home Mid-East League victory over the Falcons.
Silver Lake, which improved to 5-2, trailed 14-12 at the end of the first quarter before rallying for a 26-23 halftime advantage.
The Eagles then outscored Riley County 8-3 in the third quarter to take a 34-26 lead and pulled away for the 15-point victory with a 19-12 fourth quarter.
Dayne Johnson led Silver Lake with a game-high 19 points while Elijah Lopez added 10 points and junior Brody Deiter nine.
