Junior Aubrie Kerscht and Salina Central's girls basketball team ended Seaman's season Monday night in the Class 5A state quarterfinals, with the Mustangs rolling to a 66-38 home victory.

Kierscht scored a career-high 34 points with six 3-pointers as Salina Central improved to 19-4 while Seaman ended its season 8-15.

Salina Central, which extended its winning streak to nine games, advanced to a 3 p.m. 5A semifinal Thursday against undefeated Andover Central at Emporia's White Auditorium.

Seaman led early in the game, but Salina Central took a 15-7 advantage by the end of the opening quarter and the Mustangs were in front 40-21 at the half and outscored the Vikings 26-17 in the second half.

Freshman Brooklyn Gormley came off the bench to lead Seaman with 11 points while freshman Taylin Stallbaumer and senior JahnAsia Anderson added 7 points and senior Raigan Kramer 6.

SABETHA GIRLS 47, SILVER LAKE 28

Sabetha limited Silver Lake to 8 points in the first half, including 1 point in the second quarter, as the Bluejays took control on the way to a 47-28 Class 3A girls quarterfinal contest Monday night at Sabetha.

Sabetha led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and used a 10-1 second quarter to open up a 20-8 halftime advantage. The 22-2 Bluejays outscored the 13-11 Eagles 27-20 in the second half.

Sabetha will face Hugoton (23-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday in the 3A state tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena

Leah Renyer led Sabetha with a game-high 19 points while Melinna Schumann added 9.

Sophomore Taylor Ross led Silver Lake with 8 points.
