TREVION ALEXANDER, Topeka West
A 6-foot-4 senior, Alexander was named tri-Centennial League boys basketball player of the year after leading Topeka West to a 21-3 record in the Class 5A state tournament, only the third time in Topeka West history the Chargers advanced to the state championship game.
JOE BERRY, Washburn Rural
Berry, a 6-3 senior, was named tri-Centennial League boys basketball player of the year after being named co-league player of the year as a junior. Berry led Washburn Rural to a 14-7 record this past season and received all-league recognition for the third straight year..
NiJAREE CANADY, Topeka High
Canady, a 6-foot junior, was named the Centennial League girls basketball player of the year after averaging 20.6 points and 12.3 rebounds and leading Topeka High to a 23-2 record and a runner-up finish in the Class 6A state tournament for the second time in three years.
ZANDER PUTTHOFF, Topeka West
A 6-4 junior, Putthoff was named the Centennial League boys basketball newcomer of the year after helping Topeka West win the league title and post a second-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament. Putthoff had 12 points on four 3-pointers in West's loss to Maize in the 5A final.
TAYLIN STALLBAUMER, Seaman
A 5-7 freshman, Stallbaumer was named Centennial League girls basketball newcomer of the year after helping Seaman reach the Class 5A state quarterfinals. Stallbaumer scored 16 points in the Vikings' win over Emporia in a 5A sub-state final.
MARQUE WILKERSON, Topeka West
Wilkerson, a 6-2 senior, earned tri-Centennial League boys basketball player of the year honors after helping lead Topeka West to a 21-3 record, the Centennial League championship and a second-place finish in last week's Class 5A state tournament.
