Santa Fe Trail and Silver Lake's boys basketball teams put their offensive firepower on full display Tuesday night, combining for 158 points, 15 3-pointers and 59 free throws in the Chargers' 82-76 home win.

The Chargers and Eagles set the tone for the night when Trail took a 27-20 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Santa Fe Trail led 47-40 at the half and 61-54 after three quarters before Silver Lake cut its final margin to 6 points with a 22-21 finishing quarter.

Seniors Maddox Decker and Tyler Duncan combined for 50 points for 7-3 Santa Fe Trail, with Decker scoring a game-high 27 points and Duncan right behind with 23. Senior Brody Smith and junior Blake Buessing added 16 and 11 points for the Chargers. Decker hit 5 of the Chargers' 8 3-pointers on the night.

Senior Andrew Osterhaus paced 5-6 Silver Lake with 24 points while junior Gannon Remer and sophomore Kamryn Kaniper added 15 points apiece. Junior Luke Womack had 9 points on 3 3-pointers for the Eagles.

Free throws were a key to the game, with Santa Fe Trail hitting 25 of 38 attempts while Silver Lake went 19 of 21 at the line. Five players fouled out of the game, including four players for Silver Lake.

MANHATTAN C.H.I.E.F. BOYS 78, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 58

Cair Paravel Latin saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night,  with Manhattan Christian Homes in Educational Fellowship (C.H.I.E.F) improving to 13-2 on the season with a 78-58 home win over the Lions.

Cair Paravel, which fell to 7-4, was coming off a big win over Burlingame last Friday, but couldn't keep pace with  C.H.I.E.F. after an impressive start. The Lions led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Manhattan used a 27-17 second quarter to take a 40-32 advantage at the half.

Manhattan led 55-46 at the end of the third quarter and put the game away with a 23-12 fourth period.

Juniors Noah Hastert and Zachary Clark scored 19 and 12 points for Cair Paravel.

Manhattan had five players crack double figures, with 6-foot-5 senior Cody Mericle leading the way with 17 points and sophomore Grant Amrein adding 15. 

SILVER LAKE GIRLS 40, SANTA FE TRAIL 24

Silver Lake's girls improved to 6-4 on the season behind a solid defensive effort Tuesday night at Santa Fe Trail, allowing no more than 7 points in a quarter on the way to a 40-24 victory.

The Eagles opened up a 11-6 first-quarter lead and were in front 24-13 at the half before outscoring the 3-7 Chargers 16-11 in the second half.

Freshman McKinley Kruger led Silver Lake with 12 points, while senior Courtney Stone scored a game-high 16 points for Santa Fe Trail.
