Highland Park's boys basketball is starting to look like the team coach Michael Williams expected at the start of the 2020-21 season, with the Scots running their win streak to four games Tuesday night with a 63-58 home Centennial League win over Emporia.

CJ Powell, a 6-foot-6 senior, had a monster night for the Scots, scoring 31 points as Highland Park improved to 7-5 overall and 6-3 in the league. Junior Juan'Tario Roberts added 16 points with 4 3-pointers as the Scots' 1-2 punch carried the team offensively.

Emporia (6-6, 3-5) led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but Highland Park used a 15-7 second quarter to take a 29-23 lead at the half.

The Scots were still in front by 6 points (45-39) at the start of the fourth quarter and held off the Spartans for the win.

Emporia was led by senior Charles Snyder's 24 points.

Cair Paravel and St. Mary's Academy were locked in a 20-20 tie at the half, but the Lions opened up a 33-29 lead at the end of the third quarter and outscored the visitors 11-9 in the fourth.

Jacob Van Wamel paced St. Mary's Academy with a game-high 21 points.
