Rossville's girls basketball team won for the third time in its last four games Friday night, taking a 53-40 Mid-East League win over Wabaunsee as freshmen Kinsey Perine and Emma Mitchell and senior Julia Streit combined for 46 points.

The Bulldawgs, who improved to 4-7, led 9-8 after one quarter and 22-17 at the half before opening up some breathing room with a 14-6 third quarter.

Perine led Rossville with 18 points, followed by Mitchell with 15 points and a pair of 3-pointers and Streit with 13 points. Perine and Streit also connected on 3-pointers for the Bulldawgs.

Rossville did not allow Wabaunsee (5-9) to score more than 9 points in a quarter until the Chargers scored 17 in the fourth, matching the Bulldawgs' point total in that quarter.

ST. MARYS BOYS 77, SILVER LAKE 58

St. Marys improved to 12-2 on the season with Friday's 77-58 Mid-East League win over Silver Lake, taking control out of the gate with a 44-point first half.

The Bears opened up a 23-12 first-quarter lead and outscored the Eagles (5-9) by a 21-10 margin in the second quarter to take a commanding 44-22 lead at the half. Silver Lake outscored St. Marys 36-33 in the second half, but was unable to mount a serious charge.

Sophomore Kamryn Kaniper scored 16 points to lead Silver Lake, but was the lone Eagle in double figures.

St. Marys had four players score in double figures, led by Keller Hurla with 20 points and 5 3-pointers. Jaxon Hurla added 14 points, Fred Criqui 13 and Noah Jacobson 12 points.
