Hayden's boys basketball team gained a measure of revenge over Junction City Tuesday night, with the Wildcats taking a 57-48 Centennial League win on the Blue Jays' home floor.

Hayden had dropped a 70-65 home overtime decision to Junction City in an earlier meeting, but the Wildcats turned the tables in the rematch, riding a 19-5 third-quarter scoring spurt to the victory.

The Wildcats, who improved to 4-10 overall and 3-8 in the league, trailed 24-22 at the half but rallied for a 41-29 lead at the end of the third quarter and held off the Blue Jays (7-8, 5-7) down the stretch.

Sophomore Joe Otting led Hayden with 14 points while junior Kaelin Rice added 11 points for the Wildcats, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Junior Seth Clark paced Junction City with a game-high 17 points, including 5 3-pointers, while senior Chris Dixon added 10 points for the Blue Jays.

HAYDEN GIRLS 51, JUNCTION CITY 34

Hayden girls started slow and finished fast against the Blue Jays Tuesday night, improving to 7-7 overall and 6-5 in the Centennial League with a 51-34 road win.

The Wildcats trailed 19-11 at the end of the first quarter but used a 15-7 second quarter to forge a 26-26 halftime deadlock and pulled away with a 25-8 second-half scoring advantage.

Senior Rhen Calhoon paced Hayden with 17 points, including 13 in the second half, whille junior Carly Stuke added 10 points.

Senior LucyRivera led Junction City (5-10, 3-8) with 13 points while senior Mellana Davis added 11 points.
