Lois Deeter, Seaman
Deeter returns for her senior season this fall after tying for fifth place in the Class 5A state tournament as a junior. Deeter won the city title with a 70, placed second at regionals and had a season-low round of 66, earning All-Shawnee County first-team honors. As a freshman for the Vikings in '19, Deeter tied for fifth individually in the 5A state meet and won the Centennial League championship.
Avery Grunert, Hayden
Grunert, a junior, earned All-Shawnee County second-team honors as a sophomore. Grunert helped Hayden finish third as a team in the Class 4A state tournament last fall, tying for 23rd place individually. Grunert tied for 13th place in the Centennial League tournament.
Mallory Nelson, Washburn Rural
A senior, Nelson was an All-Shawnee County second-team selection last season after helping Washburn Rural earn a second-place team finish in the Class 6A state tournament. Nelson tied for 39th at state after tying for fourth in the city tournament and tying for seventh place in the Centennial League meet.
Raegan Petersen, Washburn Rural
Petersen, a junior, earned second-team All-Shawnee County recognition last fall, narrowly missing an individual medal in the Class 6A state tournament, tying for 22nd place as Rural finished second as a team. Petersen tied for ninth place in 6A regional competition and also earned first-team All-Shawnee County honors in track and field.
Avery Samuelson, Seaman
Samuelson, a junior, earned second-team All-Shawnee County honors last season as a sophomore. Samuelson posted a ninth-place individual finish in Class 5A regional competition to help the Vikings finish third as a team and qualify as a team for state. She also finished 12th individually in the Centennial League tournament.
Avery Scott, Washburn Rural
Scott, a senior, is a returning All-Shawnee County first-team selection after helping lead Washburn Rural to a runner-up team finish in the Class 6A state tournament last fall. Scott tied for 12th individually at state, placed fourth at regionals, tied for fourth in the city meet and was third in the Centennial League. Scott is a two-time 6A state medalist.
Avery Zimmerman, Topeka High
A returning All-Shawnee County first-team pick, the Topeka High junior tied for sixth place in the Centennial League tournament last season and tied for eighth in the city tournament. Zimmerman qualified for the Class 6A state tournament last season, tying for 33rd place. Zimmerman was also a first-team All-Shawnee County pick in girls soccer in the 2022 spring season.
Taylor Zordel, Silver Lake
Zordel earned second-team All-Shawnee County hoonors as a freshman in 2021 after ending her season with a tie for 16th in the Class 3A-1A state tournament. Zordel tied for eighth at regionals as the Eagles won the team title and she earned medalist honors in the Silver Lake Invitational. Zordel was named the Shawnee County newcomer of the year in softball.
