McCALL BEALL, Topeka High
A senior, Beall made it to the Class 6A state tournament for the second straight season, bouncing back from an injury to earn her 2022 state berth with a sixth-place singles finish in 6A regional competition. Beall finished her season wih a 10-11 record.
MADELINE DETERS, Topeka High
Deters, a sophomore, qualified for the Class 6A state tournament in singles as a freshman, finishing fifth in 6A regional competition to make it to state. Deters finished her 2022 season with a 17-12 record.
MENA DiMARZIO, Washburn Rural
A senior, DiMarzio avanced to the Class 6A state tournament for the second straight season last fall with a third-place regional finsh in singles, helping the Junior Blues win the regional team title. DiMarzio took fourth in the city championship in No. 1 singles and placed fifth in the Centennial League in singles. She went 2-2 at state to finish the '22 season with a 21-15 record.
KATE ECKERT, Seaman
A senior, Eckert teamed with Ella Foxholder to advance to the Class 5A state tournament in doubles last season, with Eckert and Foxholder posting a runnerup finish in 5A regional doubles competition. Eckert and Foxholder also finished second in the United Kansas Conference meet and went 18-12 on the season.
GRACE FUNK, Hayden
Funk, a sophomore, placed 10th in Class 4A state singles as a freshman, helping the Wildcats garner their first 4A state team championship. Funk also posted a fourth-place finish in the city meet. Funk finished the 2022 season with 21-8 record.
MOLLY GORMAN, Seaman
Gorman was a Class 5A state medalist last season as a freshman, teaming with Katie Krumins to finish 12th in 5A doubles. Gorman and Krumins won United Kansas Conference and regional doubles championships and finished second in No. 1 doubles in the city meet. Gorman and Krumins were first-team All-Shawnee County honorees, finishing '22 with a 26-6 record.
CLAIRE IRELAND, Washburn Rural
A senior, Ireland provided a big lift for the Junior Blues late in the 2022 season, moving into the Washburn Rural lineup for Class 6A regional competition and teaming with Hailey Beck to post a third-place doubles finish. Ireland and Beck earned a state berth and helped the Junior Blues win a 6A regional team title. Ireland and Beck went 2-2 at state to finish 5-3 in their two meets.
KATIE KRUMINS, Seaman
Krumins, a senior, earned a Class 5A state doubles medal last season, teaming with Molly Gorman to finish 12th in 5A doubles. Krumins and Gorman won United Kansas Conference and regional doubles titles and finished second in No. 1 doubles in the city meet. Krumins and Gorman were All-Shawnee County selections, finishing '22 with a 26-6 record.
LAUREN SANDSTROM, Hayden
Sandstrom, a senior, and Emily Sheetz capped their 34-4 2022 season with a state championship in 4A doubles, helping lead the Wildcats to their first state team title. Sandstrom and Sheetz won city and regional titles and finished second in the Centennial League meet. Sandstrom and Sheetz finished seventh at state in 2021, helping the Wildcats finish third as a team. Sandstrom is a three-time state qualifier, making it to state in singles as a freshman. Sandstrom also is also a basketball and soccer standout for Hayden.
EMILY SHEETZ, Hayden
A junior, Sheetz and Sandstrom went 34-4 and won the Class 4A doubles state championship last fall after posting a seventh-place state finish in 2021. Sheetz and Sandstrom helped lead the Wildcats to the 4A team championship after winning city and regional championships. Sheetz and Sandstrom took second in the Centennial League.
