Highland Park took command of the Meadowlark Conference boys basketball race Tuesday night with a hard-earned 51-48 road win at Atchison.

Top-ranked (Class 5A) Highland Park, which improved to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference, led 14-12 at the end of the opening quarter and 23-18 at halftime before Atchison (7-4, 3-2) cut its deficit to 39-38 at the start of the fourth quarter.
The Scots held a 12-10 advantage over the final eight minutes to hold on for the win.
Highland Park senior Mikey Williams scored 8 of the Scots' 12 fourth-quarter points and went 4 of 4 at the free throw line en route to finishing with 17 points.
Senior Ja'Corey Robinson added 14 points for the Scots.

Silver Lake girls edge Rock Creek, 50-49
Junior Kailyn Hanni led the way with 16 points as Silver Lake improved to 9-1 with a 50-49 non-league win at Rock Creek Tuesday night.
The Eagles trailed 15-14 after one quarter, 26-24 at the half and 42-39 at the start of the fourth quarter before Silver Lake closed with an 11-7 edge over the final eight minutes to pull out the win.
Taylor Zordel and Ella Bolan added 12 points apiece for the Eagles.
Lucy Martinie led Rock Creek with 13 points and Kylee Frazee added 10.
Mustangs hold off Eagle boys, 58-57
Rock Creek took a 6-point (47-41) advantage over Silver Lake into the fourth quarter and survived an Eagle rally to hold on for a 58-57 non-league boys victory Tuesday night.
After trailing 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, Silver Lake took a 30-28 halftime advantage before the Mustangs outscored the Eagles 19-11 in the third stanza to take temporary control.
Silver Lake (7-3) held a 16-11 scoring edge over the final eight minutes, but fell just short.
Junior Dayne Johnson led Silver Lake with 12 points, followed by Brody Deiter with 11 and Aemon Coffman with 10 as the Eagles had six players with at least six points.
Eli Bell led Rock Creek with 18 points, followed by Porter Gill with 13 and Logan Klingenberg with 11.

Rossville girls advance to tournament semis
Rossville's girls moved on to the semifinals in the Jefferson County North Invitational with a 49-40 Tuesday night win over Atchison County.
Junior Rylee Dick led the Bulldawgs with 24 points and four 3-pointers while Claire Whitmore added 9 points and Shyanne Haehn 8 points.
Rossville will play a 7:30 p.m. semifinal Friday against Jefferson County North, a 51-20 winner over Perry-Lecompton
Centralia sweeps twinbill from CPLS
Centralia swept a Tuesday night doubleheader from Cair Paravel Latin Tuesday night, with the Panther boys taking a 63-55 win and the Centralia girls rolling to a 73-20 decision.
Senior Jase Pavlik paced the Lions in the boys game with a game-high 23 points while Lucas Marichal added 11 points.
Duke Timmel scored 18 points, Ben Haverkamp 16 and Quentin Alderfer 15 for Centralia.
