Junior Jalen Foy turned in a huge performance Tuesday night as Topeka West rolled to a 68-51 United Kansas Conference road win over Lansing, the Chargers' fifth straight victory.

Foy scored 31 points with four 3-pointers and a 5 of 5 performance at the free throw line while also contributing 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.

Sophomore Keimani Paul scored 11 points with 5 assists and 3 steals while senior Caleb Noonoo had 8 points and 4 steals for the Chargers.

Topeka West, 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the UKC, led 20-14 at the end of the opening quarter and led 37-26 at the half before outscoring the Lions 31-25 in the second half.

Topeka West will travel to Piper on Thursday before hosting Kansas City-Turner on Friday.

Lady Scots rebound from back-to-back losses with 63-34 Meadowlark romp

Highland Park's girls basketball team bounced back from two straight losses with a 63-34 Meadowlark Conference road rout over Kansas City-Washington.

The Scots, who had dropped three of their previous four games, improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Angelique Gowan-Britt scored 29 points with six steals and five rebounds for Highland Park while freshman Pearmella Carter scored 22 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.

Highland Park will be back in action Wednesday, facing seven-time defending 5A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas on the road.

 Hi Park boys survive test from Washington, 54-49

Highland Park survived a test from Kansas City-Washington Tuesday night, remaining unbeaten in the Meadowlark Conference while improving to 11-1 overall with a 54-49 road win over the Wildcats.

The Scots, ranked No. 3 in 5A by the KBCA, got 17 points from junior Mikey Williams, 12 from junior Ja'Corey Robinson and 10 from Tamir Anderson.

Highland Park will play its third game in four days on Thursday, taking on Meadowlark Conference foe KC-Wyandotte in a game that will be played at Topeka West.  

Rural boys take 62-59 win over Blue Valley

Washburn Rural's boys basketball team continued its turnaround from an 0-6 start Tuesday night with its fifth win over its last eight games, a 62-59 home non-league decision over Blue Valley.

Rural led 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, 34-23 at the half and 42-32 at the start of the third quarter before surviving a Blue Valley rival over the final eight minutes.

Four players cracked double figures for Washburn Rural, led by senior JC Heim with 16 points.

Junior Kaden Ballard added 13 points, while senior Griffin Durst scored 12 points and junior Amare Jones 11.

Heim also led the Junior Blues with six rebounds.

Now 5-8, the Junior Blues will travel to Emporia for a Centennial League game Friday night.

Bulldawg boys win seventh straight game

Rossville's boys basketball team posted its seventh straight victory Tuesday night, topping St. Marys for the second straight game with a 62-57 win over St. Marys.

The Bulldawgs, now 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-East League, had four players crack double figures against the Bears, led by sophomore Jack Donovan with 17 points.

Mason Jones and Kameron Badura added 15 points apiece while Cameron Miller added 12 points.

Rossville will host Rock Creek on Thursday before traveling to Wabaunsee on Friday.

Rossville girls improve to 12-1

The No. 3-ranked (Class 3A) Rossville girls improved to 12-1 Tuesday night with a 54-42 Mid-East League victory over St. Marys.

Rossville, 3-1 in the league, got big games from senior Emma Mitchell and freshman Nora Burdiek, who combined for 31 points.

Mitchell led the Bulldawgs with 19 points while Burdiek added 12.

Rossville will host Rock Creek on Thursday before traveling to Wabaunsee on Friday.

West girls snap three-game skid with 49-41 win at Lansing

Topeka West bounced back from an 0-3 performance in the Capital City Classic with a 49-41 United Kansas Conference win at Lansing Tuesday night.

The Chargers improved to 5-8 overall and 4-5 in the UKC.

Topeka West will play at Piper on Thursday while hosting Kansas City-Turner on Friday.

Junior Blues drop 44-37 road decision to Blue Valley Northwest

No. 8-ranked (Class 6A) Washburn Rural's girls dropped their second straight game Tuesday, falling 44-37 in a non-league contest at No. 5 Blue Valley Northwest.

The Junior Blues, who fell to 8-4, will travel to Emporia on Friday. 

Seaman boys fall at Piper, 76-64

Topeka West gave homestanding Piper a battle Tuesday night but the No. 3-ranked Pirates stayed atop the race for the United Kansas Conference title with a 76-64 win over the Vikings.

Piper improved to 12-2 overall and 9-1 in the UKC while Seaman fell to 6-7, 4-5.

Seaman will be at home Friday to host De Soto

No. 2 Vikings improve to 12-1 with 58-37 win at Piper

No. 2-ranked (Class 5A) Seaman's girls improved to 12-1 on the season Tuesday night with a 58-37 United Kansas Conference road victory at Lansing.

With Tuesday's win the Vikings maintained their lead in the UKC championship race, improving to 9-0.

Seaman will host De Soto on Friday.

Emporia girls romp to 63-30 Centennial League win over Trojans

No. 5-ranked (Class 5A) Emporia improved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial League with a 63-30 home win over Topeka High.

The Spartans opened up a 37-18 lead at the half and cruised the rest of the way.

Senior Addie Kirmer tied her career high with 30 points.

The Spartans will host Washburn Rural on Friday while Topeka High will be at home to host Junction City.

Spartans take 19-point boys win over Topeka High

Emporia's boys improved to 9-4 on the season with Tuesday's 56-37 home Centennial League win over Topeka High.

The Spartans, 3-1 in the league, led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter and 25-18 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.

Topeka High fell to 5-9 overall an 1-3 in the league.

Topeka High will be at home to face Junction City on Friday while Emporia will host Washburn Rural.

Hayden girls improve to 13-1 with 71-20 Centennial League rout

Second-ranked (Class 3A) Hayden improved to 13-1 Tuesday night with a 71-20 home Centennial League win over Junction City.

Senior Avery Grunert and junior Brylee Meier scored 14 points apiece to lead the Wildcats while combining for seven 3-pointers (Grunert four, Meier three).

Junior Amelia Ramsey added 11 points and senior Lauren Sandstrom 10 for Hayden, which stretched its winning streak to seven games.

Hayden, 3-1 in the Centennial League will be at home Friday for a league game against Manhattan.

Silver Lake girls roll to 13th straight win

Silver Lake's girls basketball team, top-ranked in Class 3A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, improved to 13-0 on the season with Tuesday's 70-45 non-league road win over Osage City.

The Eagles will travel to Clay Center on Thursday and St. Marys on Friday.
