The Washburn Ichabod men allowed Rogers State to score the final six points of regulation to tie the score at 69 and send the game to overtime Thursday night.

But Washburn scored the final five in the extra period, leading to an 80-74 win over the Hillcats in Claremore, Okla.
With 8:52 to go in regulation, the Ichabods (14-6 overall, 10-4 MIAA) trailed 59-49, but answered with nine straight points, with five coming from freshman Brayden Shorter and four from sophomore Sam Ungashick as the Ichabods cut the lead to one at 59-58.
Rogers State (11-9, 8-6) rallied to take a 63-60 lead with 4:51 to go before the Ichabods went on a 9-0 run to lead 69-63 with 1:14 left.
A four-point play by Rogers State's Isaac Johnson with 33 seconds left and a fadeaway jumper by Rodney Battle with nine seconds to play knotted the score at 69, sending the game to overtime.
In the extra five minutes, the Ichabods scored the first six points taking a 75-69 lead with 3:14 left after a pair of free throws by Ungashick.
Rogers State scored the next five points to trim the lead to one at 75-74 before the Ichabods closed with five-straight points from the free throw line to take the six-point win.
Junior Andrew Orr led the Ichabods with 21 points while adding 10 rebounds with eight on the defensive end.
It was Orr's first double double of the season and the fourth of his Ichabod career. Ungashick had 18 points with seven rebounds while Bachelor and Bradyen Shorter combined for 25 points off the bench, with Shorter scoring 10 in the second half.
The Ichabods trailed by as many as 10 in the opening half midway through the frame at 21-11 before Washburn outscored the Hillcats 17-8 the rest of the way.
Washburn chipped away to cut the lead to one at 29-28 with 1:03 to play aided by a 5-0 individual run by Jack Bachelor, but Rogers State hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds to go in the half to push the lead to four at the break. Washburn committed eight turnovers in the first 20 minutes leading to 11 points for the Hillcats.
Battle and Johnson had 14 to lead the Hillcats.
Washburn out-rebounded the Hillcats 43-28 including 11-2 on the offensive glass.
Both teams hit 16 free throws in the game, with Washburn going 9 of 10 in the overtime period.
With the Ichabods recording their 10th MIAA win of the season, it marked the 14th year in a row Washburn has reached double-digit wins.
The Ichabods will wrap up their four-game road trip at Northeastern State (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday.

WU women fall to Hillcats, 65-54
Washburn fell behind early Thursday night and was unable to muster enough offense to overcome the deficit, falling to Rogers State 65-54 on the road.
Senior Aubree Dewey got the first points of the game on a jumper seven seconds in and after a and-one from Aniah Wayne, Washburn (11-9 overall, 6-8 MIAA) led 5-2 at the 8:40 mark.
The Ichabods stayed in front 7-4 before the Hillcats (9-11, 4-10) netted seven straight points and would remain in front the rest of the way.
Washburn trailed by as many as 12 in the first quarter before a Mackenzie Gamble 3-pointer at the buzzer made it 23-17 at the end of one.
Sophomore Yibari Nwidadah scored a layup for the first two points in the second quarter but it was followed by seven straight from the home team.
The next basket for the Ichabods came at the 4:12 mark in the quarter from Liz Boyd. Washburn shot 3-11 in the quarter and the Hillcats forced four turnovers to lead 38-25 at the break.
Both teams started slow offensively out of halftime, shooting a combined 1-14 at the first media timeout.
Madelyn Amekporfor had the lone basket at the 5:26 mark.
The Ichabods were unable to cut into the lead with Rogers State getting to the free throw line, shooting 9-12 in the quarter. Rogers State pushed the lead to 15 points but the Ichabods cut it down to just nine after Dewey drilled a 3-pointer in the final minute.
The score went back and forth the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, with the lead going between nine and 13 points.
A pair of free throws by RSU pushed the lead to 14 with 5:08 left.
Washburn scored the next four points but was not able to get the lead under double-digits until there was 1:21 left in the game. The Hillcats knocked down their free throws down the stretch to finish the game with the 11-point win.
Dewey led Washburn with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 38 minutes.
Nwidadah did not play in the second half after an ankle injury but had eight points and six rebounds in the first half. Wayne and Boyd added eight points apiece.
Alayzah Knapp led Rogers State with 25 points.
The Ichabods finish a four-game road trip against Northeastern State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
