Washburn Rural's boys and girls wrestling teams went undefeated on the day Saturday at Manhattan, earning the 2024 league championships.

The league tournament consisted of duals against the other four league schools competing in the tournament and both Rural teams went 4-0 in the event.

Washburn Rural's boys, ranked No. 2 in Class 6A by the Kansas Wrestling Coaching Association, defeated Emporia (63-18), Topeka High (75-6), Junction City (54-21) and top-ranked Manhattan (36-33) while the No. 9 Junior Blues took girls wins over Emporia (58-24), Topeka High (75-6), No. 7-ranked Junction City (54-24) and No. 5-ranked Manhattan (61-18). 

Rural's boys got individual championships from Ryder Harrison (106 pounds), Cooper Stivers (126), Easton Broxterman (132), Landen Kocher-Munoz (138), Kristjan Marshall (150), Brody Byrne (157) and Jadyn Baum (175), with all seven Junior Blues going undefeated on the day.

Broxterman pinned all four of his opponents in between 29 and 33 seconds, earning the award for the most pins in the least amount of time while Harrison pinned all three of his opponents.

Baum was named the league newcomer of the year.  

Topeka High's Rehabiah Williamson (150) went 3-1on the day, with his lone loss coming against Marshall.

Washburn Rural's girls, who won their fourth straight league title, got undefeated league titles from Molly Spader (105), Annie Gallegos (125), Laiken Clark (135), Fatima Escobar (145), Emily Funk (155) and TaAni Rhoten (170).

Gallegos pinned all four of her opponents in between 52 seconds and 4:32.

Clark recorded two pins and took an 11-3 major decision, reaching the 100-win milestone for her career in her first match of the tournament.
