Recent Topeka West graduates Trevion Alexander and Marque Wilkerson, who helped lead the Chargers to the Class 5A state championship game in 2020-21, are scheduled to play one last high school game in Saturday's 2021 Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Boys All-Star Game at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
The KBCA boys game is scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m., following the 4:45 girls game. Alexander and Wilkerson are scheduled to play for the Blue team.
Saturday's games will be live-streamed at kwucoyotes.com/live.
Topeka West coach Rick Bloomquist is also set to be honored Saturday, receiving the KBCA's Don Jones Courage Award.
Alexander and Wilkerson, named co-Shawnee County players of the year by TopSports.news, led Topeka West to a 21-3 record and a state runner-up finish to Maize.
Alexander averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals as a senior while Wilkerson averaged 17.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals.
Bloomquist announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer at the end of the regular season, and continued to coach the Chargers through their run to the state championship game. After undergoing an eight-week treatment regimen for his illness, Bloomquist recently tested cancer free.
Also selected to play in the boys game is Washburn University signee Andrew Orr, who helped lead Blue Valley North to the 6A state championship. Orr will play for the White.
