A junior quarterback, Berg led Topeka West to an 80-48 Centennial League football victory over Highland Park Friday night, rushing for 238 yards and five touchdowns on 15 attempts and completing three of four passes for 95 yards and two TDs as the Chargers posted their second victory of the season.
MADELINE CARTER, Washburn Rural
Carter, a junior, won her second straight city title in Saturday's city cross country championships at the Kanza Park Course, clocking a five-kilometer time of 18 minutes, 14.9 seconds. Carter led a 1-2-3 finish by the Junior Blues for the second straight week, with Rural winning the team championship by a 24-33 margin over Seaman.

A junior girls golf standout, Deeter carded a spectacular six-under-par 18-hole score of 66 in last Monday's Manhattan Invitational at Stagg Hill, taking individual medalist honors by 10 strokes while establishing a personal-best and a school record.
TANNER NEWKIRK, Hayden
A senior, Newkirk won the city boys cross country individual title for the second straight season Saturday at the Kanza Park Course, posting a five-kilometer time of 15 minutes, 22.0 seconds to win by just under 20 seconds. Newkirk, the defending Class 4A state champ, led Hayden to a second-place team finish.
LAUREN SWEENEY, Seaman
Sweeney, a junior, teamed with Grace Unruh to win a second straight 5A regional doubles championship Saturday at Seaman, with the duo improving to 32-0 on the season. Sweeney and Unruh completed a sweep of city, Centennial League and regional titles for the second straight season.

A senior, Unruh teamed with Sweeney to win a second straight 5A regional doubles championship Saturday at Seaman. Now 32-0 this fall, Unruh and Sweeney completed a sweep of city, Centennial League and regional titles for the second straight year.
